GMC In the Loneliness of Nursing Homes

       Though the relative percentage of loneliness present in nursing homes occupy 60% of residents, poor responses to such individuals from lack of provider population had resulted in the urgency to seek Medicaid as a pay source from state taxes to treat the generally distressed. Due to the appeal for social interactions among the nursing home residents, the concept of Group Musical Communication (GMC) was introduced, ultimately acting as a curing supplement for those affected by cognitive impairment and disability; on an account of analysis results of 72.27 years, a standard deviation (SD) of 8.2 years, a vast range of 57-86 years, 56.67% being female and the entirety of the subjects under any form of mental health conditions; in results, participants have been associated in improvement in loneliness (co-efficient = 36.61, t = 2.54, 95% confidence intervals (CI) (8.25 to 54.98, p<.01, r2 = 0.20) compared to GMC non-participants. For improved acquired engaging systems for residents, the condition of introducing the individuals to listen to music with one another would be an enlightening experience for all.

 

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Institutional Review Board administrative review exempt due to quality improvement project (protocol #1510973-5). The level of loneliness was measured every quarter between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2024 using the three-item University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Loneliness Scale in a nursing home in Southern Nevada.
